France Telecom 2008 EBITDA up 1.5%

Wednesday - France Telecom SA has reported a rise of 1.5% in its earnings before depreciation, tax, interest, and other expenses for 2008. The telecom giant has subsequently increased its dividend, and stated that it expects to generate up tp EUR8 billion a year in cash flow over the next three years.

The large French fixed-line and mobile operator will pay a dividend of EUR1.40 per share - they had paid EUR1.30 the previous year. This comes on top of a payout in September of EUR0.60 a share.

The news comes after other solid results from Spain's Telefonica SA and Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG which underscores the the solid foundation of the sector in difficult times.
